The parents are coming

My parents are coming for a short visit- this usually involves my Mum squeezing my shoulders and asking if I’ve been eating and then filling up my fridge with homemade food. Mmmhmm.

Mum and I usually end up at the mall at some point, and I’m naturally drawn to the lingerie.

I remember when I was a little girl and I would stare at the window displays and my Mum would say, “That’s for when you’re older.”

and when I did get older she would say, “That’s for when you have boyfriends.”

And now it’s, “That’s for when you get married.”
